NHS england defines Special Educational Needs and Disabilities as refering to
A child or young person who has special educational needs and disabilities if they have a learning difficulty and/or a disability that means they need special health and education support.
while this definition refers to children and young people based on the term “educational” its meaning can be broadened out the advice knowledge and support relating to these difficulties can be relivent to all individuals affected throughout their entire life and due to this may also be refereed to as Additional Needs.
Additional needs come in many different forms some of these are:
- Physical difficulties
- Sensory difficulties
- Emotional difficulties
- behavioural difficulties
- Speech and Language difficulties
- moderate to sever learning disabilities
- underlying medical conditions
these additional needs may be present uniquely or can quite often be present in many different combinations.
Additional Needs mainly refers to the fact that those affected have more difficulties that require medical or social support in order to support them to live and be a part in today’s society .
At SEN Creations we believe this can be supported through providing resources and approaches that support individuals and personalising these where necessary to achieve best outcomes.
